The 2017 Urban Renewal Seminar, hosted by the Urban Renewal Academic Committee of the Urban Planning Society of China(UPSC), and undertook by Urban Governance Institute of China, Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engeering School of Shanghai Jiaotong University and Xuhui District People’s Government, was convened in Shanghai from September 2nd to 3rd. More than four hundred experts from over eighty work units attended the conference to discuss urban governance and renewal together. Associate professor Gu Dasong from our Law School was also invited to attend the meeting.
The seminar focused on the relationship between urban governance and renewal, and the challenge we met at present. Associate professor Gu Dasong reached a consensus with other experts that urban renewal was not simply change the city, and made his own point.
