Professor Li Chuan was Invited to Participate in the 3rd Criminal Law Forum "Modern Issues of Liability Theory"

On the morning of May 15, 2021, the 3rd Criminal Law Forum was held at the Teachers' House Hotel of East China Normal University with the theme of Modern Issues of Liability Theory. The forum was jointly organized by the Criminal Law Research Center of East China Normal University Law School, the Criminal Law Research Society of Shanghai Law Society, the Case Law Research Society of Shanghai Law Society, and the Shanghai First Intermediate People's Court. Our Professor Li Chuan was invited to attend the conference and made a speech.

Prof. Li Chuan was the reviewer of the first topic Basic Theory of Liability and gave high praise to Prof. Edward Tong's speech, saying that his report touched on the most fundamental issues of liability theory and was very inspiring. Professor Li Chuan focused on the comparison between the concept of criminal responsibility in China's criminal law and the concept of guilt and responsibility in German and Japanese criminal law, which was raised by Professor Tong Huahua, and made further explanation and discussion. Prof. Li fully affirmed Prof. Edward Tong's historical arrangement and evaluation of the concept of criminal responsibility in China, as well as the review and arrangement of the concept of responsibility and its elements in German and Japanese criminal law theories.
