According to the requirements of the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on the Recommendation of New Liberal Arts Research and Reform Practice Projects (No. 10 [2021]), the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education has recently announced the list of the proposed projects of the first batch of new liberal arts research and reform practice projects through the procedures of unit recommendation, online review and meeting consideration. The first batch of 1012 projects to be established for new liberal arts research and reform practice were announced. The project of Exploration and Practice of the Construction of Emerging Intersectional Specialties in Law, which is led by our college and presided over by Prof. Liu Yanhong, and the project of Cultivation Model and Implementation Path of Composite Intersectional Talents in Transportation Law under the New Industry, which is led by the College of Transportation and participated by our college The project was successfully established.

It is reported that the New Liberal Arts Research and Reform Practice Project is open to ordinary undergraduate colleges and universities nationwide, with 6 topic areas and 22 directions, including the development concept of new liberal arts construction, professional optimization, talent cultivation model reform, key area classification promotion, teacher team construction, and research and practice of characteristic quality culture construction. The approved projects of our college mainly focus on two fields: Research and Practice on Optimization of New Liberal Arts Majors and Research and Practice on Reform of New Liberal Arts Talent Cultivation Model. The project of Exploration and Practice on the Construction of Emerging Interdisciplinary Specialties in Law led by our school is dedicated to the construction and optimization of emerging liberal arts majors, researching and exploring the development direction of the construction of emerging liberal arts majors and the scientific training program of emerging majors; the project of Complex Interdisciplinary Talent Cultivation Model and Implementation Path of Transportation Law in New Business The project of Cultivation Model and Implementation Path of Comprehensive and Cross-cutting Talents in Transportation Law under New Business, in which our college participates, takes the innovation and practice of the cultivation of comprehensive talents in liberal arts as the anchor point, and thoroughly researches the working mechanism and curriculum integration plan that are conducive to the cultivation of comprehensive liberal arts talents.

For a long time, based on the principle of cross-cutting, team-based and practical, our school has been building and cultivating interdisciplinary talents by leveraging our strong science and technology disciplines on the basis of traditional disciplines such as constitutional law and administrative law, criminal law and civil and commercial law, and has taken the lead in forming four major interdisciplinary disciplines among law schools in China, including engineering law, traffic law, medical law and big data justice. It has formed a new discipline field featuring four interdisciplinary disciplines, such as engineering law, traffic law, medical law, and big data justice, and innovatively led and formed a new liberal arts construction path of cultivating legal talents in a university with strong science and technology. We will take this approved project as an important tool and carrier to deepen the construction of new liberal arts in our college, implement the requirements of the conference on the construction of new liberal arts, establish and improve the quality assurance system of the project, organize the implementation of the project with high quality, continue to carry out innovative reform practices, and promote the construction of new liberal arts majors in our college and the steady improvement of the quality of cultivation of liberal arts composite talents.
