Open the door of law with three questions of law and understand the beauty of law from legal thinking | the 2021 "experimental class of liberal arts" of Southeast University is hot

At 14:00 on August 30, 2021, Professor Liu Yanhong, distinguished professor of the Yangtze River Scholar Award Program of the Ministry of education, Professor of China University of political science and law and former dean of the Law School of Southeast University, as the person in charge of the legal theory course of the 2021 Bingwen experimental class of our university, brought a knowledge feast to the students of Bingwen class with the theme of three questions of law.


This lecture is mainly divided into three parts. In the first part, what is law? Professor Liu Yanhong, taking the totem of China and Western law * ancient Chinese gods and animals and the goddess of justice as the breakthrough point, explained the different understanding of law between China and the West. Then, Professor Liu Yanhong put forward three concrete answers to what is law?: law is the rule of behavior, law is the regulator of social relations, and law represents a kind of order.


In the second part Why study law? Professor Liu Yanhong believes that law is the science of making a living and seeking Tao, and the science of justice and order. By studying law, we can effectively protect private rights and resist state power, help individuals claim their legitimate rights and safeguard their vital interests, promote social justice and maintain social order, which is helpful to the society.


In the third part how to learn law? Professor Liu Yanhong expounds the methods of law learning from four aspects: training legal logic, learning value judgment, flexible use of induction and deduction and building eloquence and literary talent. At the end of the course, Professor Liu Yanhong warned students that legal thinking is a kind of normative thinking, interest thinking and multi value thinking. Cultivating legal thinking is the ultimate goal of legal learning.


In the two-and-a-half-hour online course, Professor Liu Yanhong talked about the course content, from the abstract and concrete image of law to the significance of law learning to individuals and society, and finally to the cultivation of legal thinking. She constantly interacted with the students by asking questions to stimulate the students' thinking, and the students actively participated in it. Professor Liu Yanhong, with his vivid and simple teaching method, revealed the characteristics of law to everyone in specific cases, led students to appreciate the charm of law in layers of progressive precision analysis, and made students deeply feel the beauty of order, logic and justice of law, It provides a beautiful blueprint to the door of law for the students of Bingwen who are new to the University.
