On the afternoon of May 13, the signing ceremony of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee and Southeast University to jointly build a local legislative research base was held at the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, and Qu Futian, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Sun Litao, vice president of Southeast University, Mao Huixi, secretary of the Party Committee of the Law School, Meng Hongzhi, distinguished professor of Southeast University and director of the local legislation research base, and Liu Qichuan, deputy secretary of the party committee and vice president of the law school, attended the ceremony.

At the signing ceremony, Sun Litao first expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress on behalf of Southeast University. He introduced the latest progress in the construction of double first-class in Southeast University and the situation and preliminary preparations for major national and local legislation and revisions, such as the Regulations on Open Government Information, Regulations on Degrees, and Regulations on Administrative Procedures of Jiangsu Province, in which the expert team of the Local Legislation Research Base of Southeast University has participated, and put forward expectations and suggestions for the long-term development and role of the base.

It is reported that in order to better play the intellectual support of important social science resources such as law in Jiangsu universities for local legislative work, strengthen research on the theory and practice of local legislation, and help improve the quality and efficiency of legislation, after the study and decision of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, a local legislative research base in Jiangsu Province was established in 6 colleges and universities, including Southeast University. The establishment of the local legislation research base of Southeast University will be committed to becoming a high-end think tank platform that combines local legislative theory and practice and promotes academic innovation, so that more teachers and students can go deep into legislative practice, discover problems in legislative practice, summarize experience, innovate theories, cultivate talents, and help improve the level of legal academic research and discipline construction in our university. It will also further consolidate and give play to the strength of experts and scholars, prosper legislative research, and serve the needs of local legislation in Jiangsu, which is of great significance to promoting the scientific and democratic work of local legislation in Jiangsu Province.
