Southeast University Established the National People's Procuratorate National Civil Prosecution Theory Research Think Tank

On the afternoon of August 30, 2019, the symposium on the establishment ceremony and procuratorial theory work of the Supreme People's Procuratorate's Procuratorate Research Base was held at the Supreme People's Procuratorate. Party Secretary of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Zhang Jun, Procurator-General, Tong Jianming, Deputy Chief Prosecutor, and Wan Chun, a full-time member of the Commission. Vice President Professor Zhou Youyong of Southeast University and Vice DeanShan Pingji of the School of Law were invited to attend the meeting.

The establishment ceremony was presided over by Deputy Chief Prosecutor Tong Jianming. On behalf of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the procurator-general Zhang Jun awarded the title of “Supreme People's Procuratorate Civil Prosecution Research Base” of Southeast University.

The symposium was presided over by Zhang Jun’s procurator. Vice President Professor Zhou Youyong introduced the basic situation of Southeast University, especially the law school's adherence to the interdisciplinary development of “law science plus science and engineering”. Vice President Professor Zhou Youyong pointed out that the civil procuratorial research base would combine the major needs of civil procuratorial reforms, conduct research work across disciplines, from multiple angles and in all directions, and provide strong theoretical support, intellectual support and talent guarantee for civil procuratorial work. Zhang Jun, the procurator-general, highly praised the development of the combination of law and engineering in Southeast University Law School. He pointed out that the procuratorial work of judicial appraisal and environmental protection in the public interest litigation also requires interdisciplinary research.

Zhang Junemphasized that the joint construction of the procuratorial research base was of great significance and great potential. He hoped to strengthen the cooperation of the school and strengthen the research on the basic issues of the rule of law and related fields, and continuously introduce high-quality procuratorial theory research results.The Supreme People's Procuratorate hadestablished 16 research institutes “Procuratorial Research Bases” with the aim of strengthening the inspection and cooperation, building the procuratorial research base into a national procuratorial theory research think tank, cultivating high-level rule of law talents, and developing and improving the socialist procuratorial system with Chinese characteristics.

The School of Law of Southeast University had always attached great importance to the construction of research bases and disciplinary platforms to promote the rule of law in China and serve the development of society. School of Law had seven major research bases of the Supreme People's Court, the Judicial Big Data Research Center (CTTI), the Education Legislation Research Base of the Ministry of Education, and the Center for Anti-Corruption Rule of Law (CTTI), a key base for philosophy and social sciences in Jiangsu Province.The Supreme People's Procuratorate established the “Supreme People's Procuratorate Civil Prosecution Research Base” of Southeast University, which was a full affirmation and great support for the civil procuratorial research work of Southeast University Law School.The Supreme People's Procuratorate Procuratorate Research Base Southeast University Civil Procuratorate Research Center as the sole civil procuratorial research base would provide important intellectual support for civil procuratorial work, and greatly promote the discipline development and talent training of law schools.
