Recently, the winners of the 3rd Social Science Law Book Review, Film Review, and Translation Competition were officially announced. In this high-level academic contest open to young students nationwide, students from Southeast University School of Law stood out, with undergraduate student Liu Chang and postgraduate student Zhang Hao both securing third-place awards. This achievement highlights the solid results of our school's efforts in cultivating interdisciplinary legal talent.
The Social Science Law Book Review, Film Review, and Translation Competition is jointly organized by the influential academic platform "Jurisprudence Reading" and the editorial office of "Law and Social Science," a CSSCI-source journal. The competition aims to transcend the boundaries of traditional legal studies, encouraging young students to examine legal issues through social science methodologies and perspectives, and to foster a passion for academic reading and critical thinking. It has now become a flagship annual academic writing event in the field of social science law in China.
The influence and competitiveness of this year's competition reached new heights. During the submission phase, a total of 219 entries were received from authors nationwide, spanning undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. After multiple rounds of rigorous evaluation by the competition committee, including initial screening, anonymous review, and expert re-evaluation, only 3 first-place winners, 28 second-place winners, and 55 third-place winners were selected. The strict control over the award ratio ensured the academic value and authority of the prizes. It is worth noting that the winners came from 66 universities across the country, including top domestic law schools such as China University of Political Science and Law, Renmin University of China, Peking University, and Wuhan University, making the competition particularly fierce.

Amidst intense competition from numerous strong contenders, the works of two students from our school won the judges' recognition with their unique perspectives and solid argumentation.
Liu Chang won the third prize for her translation work titled "Rule of Law from the Bottom Up: A Concept in Development." The piece demonstrated a well-chosen topic and fluent language, reflecting her grasp of cutting-edge trends in rule of law theory and her strong foreign language application skills. It also embodied the competition's goal of encouraging the introduction of international academic perspectives.
Zhang Hao was awarded for his paper titled "The Controversy, Practice, and Boundaries of the Offense Principle—A Comparative Analysis Based on *The Moral Limits of the Criminal Law* and *The Right Not to Be Criminalized*." The paper focuses on fundamental theories of criminal law, offering innovative critical analysis through in-depth reading and comparison of classic works, demonstrating exceptional theoretical and analytical prowess.
This achievement is a reflection of the long-standing commitment of Southeast University School of Law to "student-centered development" and its dedication to fostering students' academic innovation capabilities and interdisciplinary perspectives. The school actively encourages and supports students' participation in such high-level academic competitions, recognizing that it is through these repeated exchanges and competitions with elite peers nationwide that students' comprehensive competencies are effectively enhanced.
