On October 22, under the guidance of the Southeast University Mental Health Education Center, the Law School Mental Health Education Sub-center (hereinafter referred to as "Fa Xin Tang") held the launch ceremony of the "Cultivating Plants, Nurturing Moods" dormitory gardening activity at the "Wenrui" One-Stop Community of the Law School. The event was attended by teachers Deng Xuyang and Zhu Wanling from the Southeast University Mental Health Education Center; Chen Yun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the Law School; Fei Qianqian, Secretary of the Youth League Committee and Undergraduate Counselor; Zhong Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee and Graduate Counselor; as well as student representatives from various dormitories.

At the beginning of the event, Deputy Secretary Chen Yun extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to Teacher Deng Xuyang and Teacher Zhu Wanling. She emphasized that the Southeast University School of Law consistently adheres to the "Wenrui Education" philosophy and places great importance on students' mental health. She noted that this dormitory gardening activity provides an excellent opportunity for students to actively participate, combining physical labor with mental well-being, and achieving holistic health development through interaction with greenery.

Following this, Teacher Deng Xuyang introduced the history of horticultural therapy in China, explaining its positive effects and scientific principles in alleviating psychological stress, building social support networks, and promoting physical and mental well-being. He encouraged students to engage wholeheartedly in cultivation, to thoughtfully experience the healing power of nature on the mind, and to actively share their gardening insights, thereby collectively benefiting from the mental health rewards.

Teacher Zhu Wanling emphasized the implementation of a "grid-based" approach to mental health education, stressing the need to treat dormitories as the smallest units and achieve collaborative management across the four levels of "university, school, class, and dormitory." She expressed hope that students would use this activity as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and coordination, achieve self-adjustment, and promote mental well-being. Finally, she extended her best wishes for the successful execution of the dormitory gardening activity.

In the final segment, Fa Xin Tang invited a professional horticulture instructor to provide on-site training, assisting students in mastering plant cultivation techniques. Following the expert's guidance, the students diligently took notes and learned about the growth characteristics and planting requirements of various plants. They expressed their commitment to exploring a more positive lifestyle alongside their green companions.
This activity was not merely an encounter with greenery but also an opportunity for emotional healing and personal growth. Innovatively applying horticultural therapy, Fa Xin Tang has helped students embrace nature, relax, and unwind amidst their demanding academic lives, while fostering a warm community atmosphere. In the future, Fa Xin Tang will organize related activities such as weekly cultivation journals, dormitory micro-landscape competitions, and planting experience sharing sessions, providing students with warm and effective mental health education initiatives.
