Position: Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Tsinghua University Law School

Experience:Professor Zhang Weiping graduated from the Southwest University of Political Science and Law with a bachelor's degree in law in 1983. He completed his postgraduate studies at the same university in 1986, earning a master's degree in law. After graduation, he stayed at the university to teach. In 1993, he was exceptionally promoted directly from lecturer to professor. That same year, he went to Japan for further studies, where he studied at the Faculty of Law of the University of Tokyo and the Faculty of Law of Hitotsubashi University. In 1996, he qualified as a doctoral supervisor. In early 1999, he transferred to Tsinghua University's School of Law, where he has been teaching ever since.  

Professor Zhang Weiping pioneered the proposal for transitioning China's civil litigation model and introduced a comprehensive macro-analytical framework for the civil litigation system and model, guided by the orientation of systemic transformation. This framework includes theories and techniques for institutional adjustments, forming his uniquely innovative theory on the civil litigation system and its transformation. In addition, he has made significant contributions to foundational theories of the civil litigation system, civil evidence theory, litigation mediation theory, non-litigation procedure theory, civil enforcement theory, bankruptcy system theory, and notarization system theory. By 2018, he had published 182 papers and 47 monographs, making outstanding contributions to the development of legal science in China.
