On the afternoon of June 21, 2023, the 13th Big Data and Internet Law Youth Academic Salon was successfully held in the conference room of Legal Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of Southeast University College of Law. The salon was hosted by Associate Researcher Xu Minchuan, with the participation of Professor Wang Lusheng, Director of Social Science Division, Associate Professor Feng Yuqing, Associate Professor Ren Danli, Associate Professor Yang Jie, Associate Researcher Miao Zeyi, Ms. Xing Chenxi, Ms. Wang Yuan, Ms. Bi Sheng, Ms. Zhu Shanshan and students from Judicial Big Data Base of the Law School.
Luo Qin, a 2022 doctoral student of the School of Law, gave a presentation on The Institutional Dilemma of Predictive Big Data Evidence and Its Response, introducing in detail the predictiveness, necessity and evidence of predictive big data evidence. He also elaborated on the paper from three aspects: the practice of predictive big data evidence, the conflict between predictive big data evidence and traditional evidentiary system, and the dilemma of big data evidence.
In the exchange session, Gong Shanzhao, a 2019 PhD student of the School of Law, commented on the report, summarized the theoretical value of the research on predictive big data system, the novelty of the selected topic, and suggested further condensing the scope of the focused thesis. Ms. Wang Yuan from the School of Law suggested that thesis writing should further highlight the awareness of the problem and be reader-friendly. Ms. Ren Danli, Ms. Yang Jie, Ms. Miao Zeyi and Ms. Zhu Shanshan all commented on Luo Qin's paper and made corresponding suggestions. Professor Wang Lusheng concluded that predictive evidence is the highlight and feature of the combination of big data and evidence system nowadays, and made suggestions to improve the necessity, urgency and solidity of the paper.
Zhao Yi, a master's student of the School of Law in 2020, gave a presentation on ChatGPT and Legal Artificial Intelligence: Collision and Debugging. The report started from the technical characteristics and development history of traditional legal AI, introduced the difference between specialized AI and general AI, analyzed the application and limitations of ChatGPT in the legal field, and finally proposed the solution of the fusion school approach with domain ontology embedding.
In the exchange session, Ms. Bi Sheng from the Law School gave guidance on the technical details of computers and the connotation of related professional concepts, and made detailed suggestions for the improvement of the thesis. 2022 PhD student Sun Yu commented on the topic selection, structure and content of the report, and also suggested adding the interaction with specific AI institutional rules to the existing basis of the report. Ms. Xing Chenxi, Ms. Feng Yuqing, and Ms. Xu Minchuan gave wonderful comments on various aspects of legal sociological research, conceptual research of jurisprudence, and legal article writing.
Finally, Prof. Wang Lusheng summarized the academic salon, saying that the current stage of digital jurisprudence research can look forward to the embedding of technology and law and the reform of judicial system from the perspective of big data technology and artificial intelligence, especially focusing on the dialogue with classical theories in humanities and social sciences to further improve the depth and readability of the paper. The 13th Big Data and Internet Jurisprudence Youth Academic Salon was a great success in the atmosphere of lively academic discussion.
