On the afternoon of August 29, 2024, the 17th Digital Law Youth Academic Salon was successfully held in the conference room of Legal Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, College of Law, Southeast University. This salon was hosted by Associate Professor Xu Minchuan, with the participation of Professor Wang Lusheng, Director of the Social Sciences Office, Associate Professor Yang Jie, Associate Professor Ren Danli, Ms. Wang Yuan, Ms. Gong Shanwu, and doctoral and master's degree students from the Digital Law team.
Zhao Yi, a PhD student of grade 23, gave a presentation entitled “A New Type of Technological Governance: Risks and Responses of Generative Artificial Intelligence Enabling Justice”. The report argues why generative AI-enabled justice is a new type of technological governance, and combines the theory of sociology of technology with the evolution and alienation mechanism, risks and hazards of generative AI-enabled justice to try to build a holistic risk governance system of generative AI-enabled justice.
During the exchange session, the reviewer, Cui Rongzhen, a doctoral student of grade 24, commented on the report and put forward his opinions and suggestions on the significance of the thesis, the structure of the text, the specific expression of “new technology governance”, language expression and other aspects. Associate Professor Xu Minchuan of the Law School thought that the report should be further related to the classic propositions of technological governance and technological alienation, avoiding the simple stacking of concepts and materials. The rest of the faculty and students expressed their views and discussed in depth the picture and risks of generative AI-enabled justice, academic paper writing methods and techniques.
Xiao Yuanhang, a PhD student of grade 24, gave an in-depth analysis around the classic scene theory in personal information protection with the topic of “The Jurisprudential Expression of Scene Theory and Its Application in the Governance of Large Models”, clarifying the jurisprudential significance of basic concepts such as scene, scene norms, and scene value. On this basis, an attempt is made to expand the application of generalized scene theory to large-scale pre-training model governance, and to explore the institutional realization path of stable scene-based governance in the context of new technology.
In the review session, Wang Yang, a PhD student of grade 23, put forward his opinions and suggestions on the conceptual expression of “scene” in scene theory, the relationship between scene theory and “specific analysis of specific problems”, and the hierarchical governance of large models and scene governance. Mr. Wang Yuan of the Law School suggested further optimization of the expression of problem awareness in the article and the necessity argumentation of applying scenario theory to the governance of large models. The rest of the teachers and students engaged in heated discussions on hot topics related to scenario theory and made valuable suggestions for report revision. The salon ended successfully in a warm academic discussion.
