In order to further enhance the internationalization level of the Law School of Southeast University and assist in the cultivation of foreign-related legal talents, the Law School of Southeast University held a lecture on the LLM program of Washington University School of Law in St. Louis on October 31, 2024 in the conference room of the Law School of Jiulonghu Campus. Wei Luo, a lecturer and director of the Library Technology Department at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, was specially invited to be the keynote speaker for the event. Teachers and students from Southeast University School of Law actively participated.
Professor Luo Wei first introduced the campus environment of Washington University in St. Louis and the advantageous position of its law school, and then explained in detail the LLM program for foreign legal talents, including multiple professional directions such as Master of Laws in the United States, Master of Laws in Intellectual Property and Technology, Master of Laws in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution, etc. In addition, Washington University School of Law in St. Louis also offers additional certificate programs covering areas such as dispute resolution through negotiation, commercial law, and international law, supporting students in pursuing diverse career paths.
This presentation not only showcased a rich curriculum and excellent learning environment, but also emphasized the learning opportunity for LLM and JD students at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis to teach together. It also introduced free legal English enhancement courses and admission orientation programs to help international students better adapt to the US legal education system.
During the Q&A session of the activity, students actively participated and further learned about key information such as the application process, scholarships, and employment opportunities after graduation for the LLM program.
The successful holding of this lecture has expanded the international perspective of the faculty and students of Southeast University Law School, and provided valuable opportunities for exchange and learning for students who are interested in engaging in foreign-related legal practice.
