The college has always attached great importance to and actively supported students' participation in international law competitions, using them as an important tool to enhance their professional competence and international competitiveness.
Liu Qichuan, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the Law School, put forward three suggestions in his speech: firstly, we should benchmark and fill in the gaps, go out and learn from successful experiences, and introduce excellent external resources to empower ourselves; Secondly, we need to strengthen the guidance role of coaches and teachers, give full play to the role of peer mentors in passing on knowledge, and improve the efficiency of competition preparation through the dual track system of "mentor+senior"; We must establish a reasonable selection mechanism to select students who are interested and capable, in order to enrich the competition team.
Associate Professor Yu Wenjie, the team coach, reviewed the basic situation of the college's participation in major international competitions. She pointed out that there are many types of major international events, and we cannot cover everything. We need to focus our limited energy and strive for significant breakthroughs in a certain event.
Associate Professor Zhang Yue, the team coach, gave an introduction on the preparation for the Jessup mock court competition. She comprehensively analyzed the characteristics of Jessup competition, analyzed the challenges faced by our hospital in participating in the competition, such as long cycle, high investment, and uncertain effectiveness, and put forward specific opinions and suggestions.
Coach He Yingxin pointed out that targeted courses should be offered to increase the number of student coaches and alleviate the pressure on the leading teachers in response to the characteristics of ICC mock court competitions.
Liu Hongjie, a master's student from the Law School of 2024 and a former participant in the CIETAC Cup, pointed out that there are problems with the current preparation for the competition, such as delayed start time, scattered experience inheritance, and lack of pre competition methodological guidance. She suggested building a systematic experience empowerment mechanism.
Tan Yun, a master's student from the Law School of 2024 and former Jessup team captain, pointed out that this year's preparatory competition has exposed core issues such as insufficient team experience accumulation, need to improve resource coordination efficiency, and the lack of attractiveness of the competition. He also put forward targeted improvement suggestions and recommendations.
Zhang Zixian, a 2022 undergraduate student from the Law School and former captain of the ICC Moot Court Competition, suggested that a fixed training venue be provided for team members and a scientific incentive mechanism be established for participation.
The Law School of Southeast University has always been guided by the fundamental goal of cultivating foreign-related legal talents who have a firm political stance, excellent professional quality, are familiar with international rules, and proficient in foreign-related legal practice, and encourages students to actively participate in major international competitions. This seminar not only deeply analyzed the experience and lessons learned from past competitions, but also systematically planned the institutional mechanisms for future preparations, providing strong institutional guarantees for future participation in major international events.
