On 18 April, the launch ceremony for the Jiangsu Province ‘2025 Youth Legal Education Volunteers’ Grassroots Legal Culture Tour’ activity, hosted by the Provincial Law Society, the Provincial Department of Justice, and the Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, was successfully held at Southeast University.
The external leaders and guests attending the event included: Zhou Jiye, President of the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society; Ji Wei, Party Secretary and Executive Vice President of the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society; Peng Bing, Deputy Inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Justice; Shi Jingzhi, Deputy Inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League; Qian Shengchun, Executive Vice President of the Nanjing Municipal Law Society; Gao Yuan, Secretary-General and Director of the Secretariat of the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society; Lyu Fudong, Director of the Research Division of the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society; Li Guo, Deputy Researcher of the Legal Education and Law Enforcement Division of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Justice; Jiang Xiangwei, Section Chief of the Rights Protection Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League; Zhang Zongxue, Vice President of the Jiangning District Law Society of Nanjing; Zhu Lumei, Fourth-Level Researcher of the Secretariat of the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society; Mao Jing, First-Level Section Chief of the Research Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society; Xu Dasi, Second-Level Section Chief of the Secretariat of the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society; Jiang Yuanyuan, Director of the Secretariat of the Jiangning District Law Society of Nanjing; and Guan Zhanbing, Director of the Jiangsu Branch of the Democratic and Legal Affairs Society.
In addition, Xing Jihong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University; Shan Liang, Deputy Director of the President's Office; Song Jiangang, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee; Zhao Jianfeng, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office; Wang Haoran, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee; Wang Xinsheng, Deputy Director of the Legal Affairs Office; Wang Ting, Deputy Director of the Management Office of the Graduate School; Liu Qichuan, Party Secretary of the Law School; and Chen Yun, Deputy Party Secretary, among other university leaders and guests, also attended the event to provide guidance. Over 300 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students from across the university participated in the event.
The event was hosted by Ji Wei, Party Secretary and Executive Vice President of the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society.
At the beginning of the event, all participants stood and sang the national anthem.
After the national anthem, Xing Jihong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University, delivered a speech, extending a warm welcome to the leaders, guests, teachers, and students attending the launch ceremony of this grassroots outreach activity.
Xing emphasised that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed that the rule of law is an important guarantee for Chinese-style modernisation. As the primary frontline for talent cultivation, universities bear the fundamental task of fostering virtue and nurturing talent, and must continuously cultivate socialist legal awareness among university students. In recent years, Southeast University has upheld the spirit of the rule of law, placed great importance on legal work, and focused on developing a series of distinctive legal culture construction brands, including the Legal Culture Festival, the Constitution Speech Competition, Mock Trials, and Legal Microfilms.
Secretary Xing stated that the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society chose to hold the launch ceremony of this grassroots outreach activity at Southeast University, which not only fully affirms our university's legal education efforts but also reflects the expectations for our university to further deepen legal practice. The university will use this activity as an opportunity to strengthen university-local collaboration, innovate carrier formats, and promote the in-depth implementation of comprehensive legal education work, collaborating with the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society to create a Jiangsu model for legal education work.
Secretary Xing pointed out that this year marks the concluding year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the summary and evaluation year of the 8th Five-Year Legal Education Plan. He hopes that every young student will actively participate in grassroots legal education activities, become a vital force in legal system construction and a disseminator of legal knowledge, and contribute to writing a brilliant chapter in the new journey of national rejuvenation and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Following this, Xie Jun, a representative of the young legal education volunteers, made a statement. He stated that the new generation of young law students are not only disseminators of legal knowledge but also practitioners of the spirit of the rule of law. As legal education volunteers, they must remember President Xi Jinping's instructions, persist in participating in the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society's routine legal education activities, and ensure that legal education is for the people, relies on the people, and serves the people. They must uphold the banner of faith in the rule of law and strive to make respecting, learning, abiding by, and applying the law a widespread trend throughout society.
Next, Zhang Zongxue, a representative of the grassroots Law Society, delivered a speech. He emphasised that in recent years, under the leadership of the provincial and municipal Law Societies, the Jiangning District Law Society has conducted in-depth grassroots activities and established a brand for youth legal education work. In the future, the Jiangning District Law Society will focus on the needs of the people, go deep into communities, rural areas, schools, and enterprises, conduct differentiated and precise legal education publicity, and unite and lead a large number of young volunteers to contribute their youth to the new practice of China's modernisation in Jiangsu.
Finally, Zhou Jiye, President of the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society, delivered a speech. He pointed out that in the new era, young legal education volunteers are at the right time and bear heavy responsibilities. We must deeply understand the decisive significance of the ‘two establishments,’ strengthen the ‘four consciousnesses,’ firm up the ‘four self-confidences,’ and ensure the ‘two safeguards.’ We must use the power of the rule of law to safeguard the development of new productive forces and contribute wisdom and strength to advancing the construction of a strong country and the rejuvenation of the nation. President Zhou Jiye made arrangements and put forward clear requirements for the 2025 ‘Grassroots Tour’ activity in the province, focusing on four aspects: strengthening political leadership, grasping key tasks, deepening integration and cooperation, and adhering to local conditions. He encouraged young legal education volunteers to demonstrate their youth, showcase their style, and shine their light in participating in legal education publicity and legal practice.
This launch ceremony marks the official commencement of the ‘2025 Youth Legal Education Volunteers Grassroots Legal Culture Campaign’ in Jiangsu Province, showcasing the outstanding achievements of our university in legal education and legal culture construction. In the future, our university will continue to uphold the philosophy of education serving society, encouraging more young students to step out of campus, delve into grassroots communities, forge solid skills through the unity of knowledge and action, and temper their original aspirations and missions through serving society. With firmer beliefs and more concrete actions, they will contribute their youthful energy to advancing the construction of a strong nation and the rejuvenation of the nation.
